Sugata
A moment to unwind in the city.
Sugata, a Japanese dining spot in Matsushima, Edogawa Ward, serves satisfying meals day and night, including Kagoshima Kurobuta tonkatsu, assorted mixed fry sets, and Inaniwa udon combinations.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
For a hearty, comforting meal, the highlights here center on deep-fried specialties, notably Kagoshima Kurobuta pork tonkatsu and generously portioned mixed fry sets. Coated in a light, crisp batter, the Kurobuta cutlets bring out the natural sweetness and depth of the pork, pairing naturally with a bowl of steamed rice. Diners eager to sample a bit of everything can opt for the mixed fry set, which brings together items like Kurobuta pork skewers, tender fillet, shrimp, and whiting. Fried to order and served piping hot, the platter offers a balanced blend of seafood and meat.
Beyond the fried options, the menu features smooth Inaniwa udon served alongside tendon (tempura rice bowls) or tekka don (tuna bowls), allowing you to tailor a meal to your appetite. In the evening, the counter and tables welcome small-plate dining with options such as aji namero (finely chopped horse mackerel tartare), sashimi platters, and homemade satsuma-age fish cakes, all suited to a relaxed beer or glass of wine. Whether dropping by for a casual lunch set in Edogawa's Matsushima district or lingering over dinner in the calm interior, Sugata offers an unpretentious neighborhood Japanese dining experience.
